I agree on the fixed inductor for BFS with UL baits. It can be difficult to get the inductor to extend outwards on cast making the spool wild and once it does then the spool can over brake some of these very light weight baits. A thin inductor fixed into the extended position can perform very well with UL baits. That is the way my Zonda BFS spool is. The air brake style Ray's spools are great but their brake system is better with the heavier end of UL and non UL small baits. I actually think they should have a little more capacity like the Long Cast Ray's spools to reflect their braking profile and bait preferences. The reel low capacity is better suited to fixed inductor spools like this Roro and the Zonda BFS.

This line is a little too thick for this spool because spool takes only 50 meters of it. In K.T.F. I have 60 meters and that's enough. But still once I was near to out of line when playing with rainbow trout. (They were introduced fishes to still water but in our opinion those fish should live in white water so we were transplanting those to the rapids.)

Of course 0.12 mm braid is ridiculously thick for BFS but this (no enough room for it in this spool) was first time when I found any disadvantage with this line. Yes, I use FC leader (because of pikes and invicibility).

Seems like that Transluscent Spider is a little thinner and lighter. Or maybe they have just changed line a little bit. Red is bought a year ago. Transluscent is new.

Ray's Long Cast spool for the old pre-CT Tatulas and Tatula 150. I have one of these in my Tat Type R and it is like an SV spool with a stiffer Spring. It is a really good performer. It bombs lighter weights than the stock spool, starts up easier in a pitch and performs about the same as the stock spool with heavier baits. The last time I threw it I could cast 3/4 of the 14# flouro off it throwing a Shadow Rap. I haven't seen these spools around in a while. If you have one of the old tats it is worthwhile to drop $35 on this spool.

There are also these weird fixed inductor spools for the old Tatulas from Stream Angler. They look like a budget option for a finesse spool or to increase capacity beyond stock at $24.

Trulinoya also has a new bait finesse reel. It looks to be an improvement over the popular XF50. 162 gams weight. Carbon fiber handle. 9.5 gram spool with bearing. The new low spool weight is due to the use of an aluminum spool shaft.

It looks like a decent way to cut your teeth into UL BFS for $60. Put one on a Teton and you're tossing UL baits for under $150.

Tried to cast Roro spool. Have to say, difference is not that much between more than 3x more expensive (incl. post & tax & custom) K.T.F.

But K.T.F. feels somehow higher quality even during cast. It just feels more refined or solid.

And casts with Roro was higher / more curved. I liked to cast with K.T.F. low casts.

But both are worth of price of those. Regardless of that Roro is expensive chinese spool and K.T.F. is ridiculously expensive Japan spool. Post + tax + custom duty rises it cost to sky high.

Thanks for posting this comparison. I received my Steez SV CT TW Roro spool today, and I went here to try to find how it compares to the KTF.

Has the KTF fixed inductor?

K.T.F. is with 'Kahen' inductor which is sv type. Which means moving inductor, activation ramp, weak spring and inductor stays in a magnetic field by magnetic force.

K.T.F. is really nice and refined spool and it works nicely in short casts of BFS. I still haven't tested it slightly heavier use (casting weights of something 5-10 g) but I consider it will really shine in that.

30mm Roro spool with 0.06mm Sufix Nanobraid. 6.0g with line is insane

I'm not a big fan of linear magnetic brakes, but combined with Teton 6'3" UL my Steez CT SV TW with the Roro spool is my best UL setup. With movable inductors or Aldebaran BFS 16 I prefer faster and stiffer rods, but with this spool I need a deep action soft rod and calm casting to get max distance. I've been testing with a 2.0g crankbait.

Now this is a price a Chinese spool should cost. they look exactly like the ray's studio spools too.

I'm sure it is the same spool. Nice deal.

Some of the pictures on the listing are awesome. They have some baitcasters photoshopped over spinning reels in a few fishing pictures. Hilarious.

yea the baitcaster photoshoping was funny indeed.

Ordered one of these, will see how they go.

Casted this tiny trout magnet 22 steps (about 50ft) in my driveway with 4lb mono. Easy to control, bearing seems to be of good quality, especially for the price. $52 to my door.
