Wondering on a cu100d gear swap?

Post by lifeofRiley » Thu Jan 26, 2017 8:55 am

I am fixing 2 curado 100d reels for a guy and the gears are rough as a cob. I'm just wondering if there are any higher gear ratio gears available that fit this reel? Thanks in advance for any help.

I havent been able to find anything with my CU100D, and what I have found is the pinion gear is discontinued and near impossible to find.

Thx for the reply Largemouth Gambler. I just cleaned two for a guy and the main gears are painted black and look just like the ones from a CHmg50. Another gear set that is impossible to find....

When you say painted black, I'm assuming that they're aluminium and are Tuffram (Shimano Paladin) coated?

Yes they feel very light so I'm guessing aluminum. I'm not sure what the coating is, but I'm guessing it's probably the proprietary shimano term you mentioned. The pinions are brass though.

There are almost no gears at all still available for any of the D model reels. The pinion for the the 100D fits the 100B and the 50 MG. It's not available from anyone anymore.
