Who does spool repair?
Who does spool repair?
I've got a wild 1016 and 1010 spool that act as if the inductor is not extending. Both make an audible metallic ringing sound when the spool is rotated in hand indicating that something is broken inside. I would like to get these spools repaired.

Has the metallic collar seperated from the plastic slip shaft?
Very common I'm finding it on a couple of Z200H's...

Bryan, aka PikeRoadBassn, or Ian, aka e_bassfisher, can help out.

I'm not sure. What part is the metallic collar?

The silver collar on the LH side which moves and is under spring tension for the magnetic cast control system.
Is that what is floppy and not where it should be - should be stable when spool wobbled side to side, and when gently pulled should be under tension.

The inductor? It's operates normally by hand. To further clarify on the 1010, it makes the metallic ringing sound when moved as if something has fallen off inside and is moving about within the ID of the spool. I use the 1010 exclusively for pitching so It's not the end of the world if the inductor is boogerd up. The 1016 makes a soft tick when rotated in hand while the bearing is held in place. I'm perplex by the 1016. I can't get it to brake in a T3 Ballistic unless it is set to max brake and with high mag dial settings. What is odd is that it is that the spool shaft is shorter than my other T3/Ryoga spools. When I place the spool into my T3B or LIN10s the spool has significantly more side to side play than the spool I had just removed. My 1016 is an uncontrollable nightmare of a spool. I want this spool to work as I intend to put it into a Steez Limted as a frog reel.

Have you checked the side plate friction plates for wear and tear? Also the ends of the spool itself they're still smooth and not worn?

Re: Who does spool repair?
The 1016 is definitely not a wild spool, not by a long shot. Something is definitely wrong. Do you use both spools in the same reel or different ones? I ask because it might be best to send the entire reel with spool(s) in to be looked at as it could be tough to discern if the problem is only the spool.
Re: Who does spool repair?
I misbehaves in any reel I have put it in. It's been in a T3B, LIN10 and Steez 105SV. It has been this way since I bought it through TTT.

Yikes, it's definitely got something wrong with it then.

Re: Who does spool repair?
It sounds as maybe a guide pin has become dislocated, or possibly even a broken or damaged spool spring. I've built and rebuilt quite a few of these spools. I'd be happy to help you. -Bryan (The Tackle Trap)
