TDZ level wind on a Pixy?

Post by LowRange » Sun Apr 30, 2017 5:08 am

I see that this swap is done often when building a pixzilla. I would like to replace the level wind on my silver mica because it is ugly but the TDZ level wind looks kinda dorky on a Pixy. Are there any observed performance advantages to the enlongated TDZ level wind? I'm looking for ancedotial evidence here. I understand the concept behind the larger level wind opening.

As best I recall, there was a picture at that time from some cool Japanese tackle company (ZPI maybe?) that had an orange 2003 Pixy with a TDZ level wind. As for me, I (rather DR Fielding) did it to all of my Pixzillas because it looked good. I floated some nonsense about line friction on the top of the original line guide costing casting distance but like I said...nonsense. It looks good. :big grin:

I think a Steez line guide would also work (right...?).

the td-z line guide is more aesthetic than anything, in my opinion....looks very cool, but i do not believe that it makes a notable difference in the performance of the zilla
