Fitting a TDZ handle to a CV-X 103A Millionaire

Post by Strewth » Mon Jun 26, 2017 1:26 am

Trying to fit an 80 mm TDZ handle to my heavily modded CV-X 103A (gigas spool, external brake plate, Pixy 6.8 gear set, extra bearings). The reel has a stock drag star. When I replace the stock handle, friction washer (F85-0401) and handle nut (F84-9901) with the TDZ handle, friction washer (that fits in the handle cup, F57-6601), and thinner handle nut (F83-7402) the drive shaft is too long for the handle nut cap (F57-7202) to fit (see photo).

The drive shaft must be flush with the top of the nut for the nut cap to fit. Is the only solution to shorten the drive shaft, or am I missing something?
