That's what they tell us. It sounds like a good thing, but I've destroyed quite a few, and they just haven't held up like any of the brass gear sets that I have. I think that the hardness or different pliability is what actually causes issues. When you mix gear set materials, problems are bound to happen. A little bit of pliability can be a good thing if both parts are experiencing the same effect. There is good reason for brass gear sets being the standard for so many years. I'll take the extra weight any day. I have found that you really have to make sure that all the areas of an alloy pinion are covered with grease if you want to get much lifespan out of them.

The so called duraluminum is a alloy that really SUCKS in any gear configuration , better suited where weight saving applications are mandatory and durability is not a priority , not the case here , reel gears need to be tough and durable , that crap has it's place , but not here , look it up , it is cheaper for the manufacturers but it's lifespan SUCKS !! probably great is you get reels or parts free but useless otherwise . So all you reel making companies PLEASE STOP MAKING REELS WITH THAT CRAP , IF YOU WANT TO KEEP US AROUND !! Yes I am in the steel industry and have been for many years and have seen ALOT of that kind of crap . WAY TOO MUCH !!

I ordered a few sets of the 6.3 right-handed all brass gear sets from Plat on the date of the last post (3/5). They sent a shipment e-mail today. Get the TDZ gear sets while they can still be had!

Just got mine in after seeing this post. Good for another few years...already wishing i would have bought more haha.

My steez gear is becoming raspy as hell. Wanted to order a set from the tdz 103H but it looks like they're now out of stock on PLAT
