Had a cold front move in Friday and offered perfect conditions for bass stuck on the bottom. Started out Texas riggin, and then some heavy jigs. Peanut butter and jelly landed this 4 pounder. :D

Towards the end of the day it started getting a clinking sound while casting. Tore it apart this morning and the small diameter of the pinion cut into the yoke. Might have to modify the yoke or rethink the pinion some. :-k

I'd like to keep this drop in with no other mods to the reel. So its likely I'll add a spacer to the pinion to keep it from dragging on the yoke. Most other reels use metal plates on the yokes for small(and sharp) diameter gears to eliminate this(dig in issue). But I'm sure a ring added to this pinion would also defeat the problem. Thoughts?

](*,)

I missed a dimension and it allowed the pinion to sit too low. Hence why it was wearing on the yoke!! Minor changes and a new updated pinion ready to test this weekend. :big grin:

I am rooting hard for you man. I would think you could make some cash back on this if you get it dialed in. Love those reels! Would love them more if i could get a 7 gear ratio.

First production set has been sent to IlliniDawg01

I may need a warmer climate member to also test as well. Getting cold up north. :crying:

Yay! I've got a TDZ that has been in pieces for years. Seems like the best place to put them.

JJ, Ill be your huckleberry. I live on Guntersville, so I can test them through the year and on quality fish.

I think I've got someone to test these for now. Thanks for the offer though.

Got my set in the mail. Cleaned them down really good, and they are drying on my bench. Hopefully will get a free minute to get them in, and should be able to get some water time in with them soon. They look really good, and am quite interested in the recipe once they are proven.

Updates on the testing. Hopefully these members can share their thoughts here on the sets they received??

LgMouthGambler set had issues and he said they locked up. I'm still waiting to receive them back to inspect what went wrong. :(

IlliniDawg01 got his installed, But not sure he had a chance to use them.

soulfisher set work well and he is thrilled with them. He has fished the heck out of them and no issues.

hoohoorjoo set had a slight tick on install. But he said they worked their way out. Not sure how much he got to fish them.

Hoping to get started on a production run, But need to investigate the one bad set before I proceed!!

Yep, my set smoothed out. I used them just yesterday for a little bit. great for bottom-contact applications. I am well-pleased.

Just sent you a PM, but i'll include it in the thread to share.

"I have another 5 hours on the gear set and adding 8 more fish. Yesterday near end of mission, i heard a slight tick that seemed to repeat at the same interval during retrieve. It went away almost quickly as it appeared, but i set the reel aside just in case. I was cranking a shad rap when it occurred.

I will open it up, clean, grease, and put in another tdz this evening and see if there is anything to it. I think it was just an anomaly or maybe there is was FOD in there because the tick went away a couple casts later. I'll let you know what i find out tonight"
