I take a pair of hemostats, put a drop of super glue near the tip, and stick the c clip in it sideways. I just let it partially dry and it holds the clip out horizontally well enough to get it seated fairly easily. It's funny, I bet there are a lot of variations on getting that bastard back in there. You have to figire something out or you'll go nuts!
