Screeching Zillion HD
Started screeching today when casting- did not notice any effect on distance- Salmon season about over anyhow so almost time to tear it down. Safe to use for another trip or 2?

Drop of oil on the spool bearings should take care of it.

He said it's not affecting the casting, so this is doubtful. If the rotor cup popped loose, the reel would blow up the entire spool of line on the first cast.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I guess that's dependent on how many gorilla's you put into the cast.
I had 2 Z200H's with loose inductors, they made funny noises but casting wasn't all that affected other than the noise.

The few reels that I've seen with a loose rotor came to me with a spool full of birds nest.

Got two new Catainlas from TTT and they were bone dry. First time I had a reel squeal right out of the box.

Re: Screeching Zillion HD
Well I thought the drop of oil took care of it but I probably just could not hear it on the river- Tore the reel down today for a thorough cleaning and lube, put it back together and there's that screech again really only noticeable on a really "hard" cast. Reel was new this fall and probably put 250 hours on it and 50 hard fighting salmon.
Any other ideas?

Most likely a small bit of debris inside the bearing. Use a small hook to remove the seal/shield on the bearings and properly flush them. You can reinstall the seal/shield if you choose, but leaving it out aids in quicker cleaning and lubing in the future.1nutinthewater wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2019 9:54 amWell I thought the drop of oil took care of it but I probably just could not hear it on the river- Tore the reel down today for a thorough cleaning and lube, put it back together and there's that screech again really only noticeable on a really "hard" cast.
