Can you remove the alpha CT70 Spool spacers?

Any chance you can remove those spool spacers in the alphas CT70 and run a regular alphas spool in it?

Also- are the brakes different on the CT model and possibly pose an issue?

Thanks in advance

Other than the spacers, the pinion gear and set plate and levelwind wormgear is different on the CT models to accommodate the narrow spool so those would need to be swapped as well.

Yes, they can be removed but not sure if you can use other spool. Pulled out and Cerakoted gloss black.

What did you use to pull the spacers?

Those belong to my buddy. He pulled them out (or should I say pry), with various small tools. He said it was a total b!tch.

So to use a ct sv spool in a alphas sv (or other 33mm alphas) your need to swap all those other parts as well as add spacers?

Yes that would be correct.

I need to get my finesse custom and CT SV side by side to verify, but I think the frame protrusion on the gearbox side that mattress with the bearing on the spool is longer on the CT SV, *I think* (!). There's a plastic spacer or bushing in there beside the frame bearing that isn't present on other Alphas frames.

Are the spacers glued in or do they just get pressed in?

Pressed in. Another member here removed them from a reel, but he said it was a major pain.
