Gear grease opinions
Gear grease opinions
Ok so I’ve been servicing all my own reels for a couple of years now, my choice of chemicals for all my reels (mix of shimano, lews, and just added a couple of daiwas) is the following
Superlube (gears)
TSI 321 (bearings)
Cals (drags)
So this year when i tour my reels down during winter i noticed that the superlube looked a little like it had hardened up and was packed up off the sides of the gears so I’m wondering if a substitute should be made here.
I have zero complaints about the function of my gear since starting my own servicing all my gear performs very smoothly but recently i stumbled upon these new products from Deuthlon, there gear grease seems very impressive and based on the limited info i could find people say that it stays in place.
Seems that what i could find on here most people prefer to use shimano DG04 (ace 2) for this duty so that’s another consideration since it seems trying to track down. Deuthlon is somewhat hard since it’s mostly popular overseas.
So basically I’m open to suggestions, should i trade out the superlube for something else that performs better? Or just stuck with what seems to be working? All i care about is the longevity of my gear and smooth performance. Don’t mind stripping it down every year to achieve this. Actually find servicing kinda a relaxing way to pass the cold winter months.
Thanks

I use Abu Silicote grease. It's getting hard to find, so I bought up a bunch of it. I've used a lot of different gear lubricants over the years, but always came back to this.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

ZPI F-Zero oil and grease. Have never looked back.
Re: Gear grease opinions
I use shimano star drag grease on the gears and hh alchemy bearing oil for the spool bearings.

ZPI oil for bearings. Seems to stay put.
Re: Gear grease opinions
I used to use superlube, but I found that it doesn't stick well enough. Switched to syl-glyde brake caliper grease which works better. Lately, I have been using 140wt gear oil and have been very pleased. Gotta apply it light or it will seep onto the drag washers.

Super lube has been great on lighter finer spin and baitcast reels.
And I've been using this ceramic fortified grease for a long while now, pretty good results on baitcast reels.

Deuthlon hands down, their full range of products is what I have switched to for a few years now and dont see a need for anything else

Is this company just a start-up? Because their isn't much on it or history about it?

Re: Gear grease opinions
I use Cals on the gears as well and it works fine, it is a gear and drag grease. Use the purple cals if in cooler climates.
