Gear grease opinions
Re: Gear grease opinions
My gears get only Shimano, or Cal's drag grease.
Re: Gear grease opinions
ZPI F-0 Soft grease on sliding/moving parts, frame bearings, and worm gear.
ZPI F-0 Medium grease on gears.
ZPI Long Cast oil on spool bearings.
The difference has been quantifiable on all my reels, from BFS to heavier duty.
Greater distance, when desired, with less casting effort,.
Operation so smooth that I have had to look to see if I forgot to re-install the spool
Thanks to Bryan at TT for the recommendation

Re: Gear grease opinions
I bought the 1 pound tub of this stuff and am about to put in on a bunch of reels, so hope it works good! I bought based on your opinion and the fact you put a lot of time and thought into fishing reels. I'm not sure if I'll ever need to buy any more grease for the next 20 years.

Re: Gear grease opinions
It's good stuff, just keep in mind shear teeth need a stickier option to hold in place, unless it's a finesse reel. Otherwise on frame bearings and idler gears and other smooth parts ots pretty damn good!
Haven't been doing much lately due to the boy and other things like this bloody house and it's ever growing problem's.

Re: Gear grease opinions
I should have been more specific on my last post.
I've been using Shimano Star grease on all my baitcaster gears and Bantam oil on my bearings, for my spool bearings
I use lightening lube.
Spinning reels I use Ace-0/DG01 grease on the gears, its a bit sticky though and slows down the reel a bit but is very
smooth, Bantam oil on the bearings and Shimano DG18 Water repellant grease to the roller bearings only.

I'm not sure if you're in a temperate or cold climate, but be careful with any type of grease on your anti-reverse roller bearings, as it will cause slippage in very cold weather. Experience is the best teacher.....BRONZEBACK32 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 7:47 pm..... and Shimano DG18 Water repellant grease to the roller bearings only.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Most are from factory, except for spinning.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 6:24 amI'm not sure if you're in a temperate or cold climate, but be careful with any type of geese on your anti-reverse roller bearings, as it will cause slippage in very cold weather. Line roller bearing not the anti-reverse.Slazmo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 12:09 pmMost are from factory, except for spinning.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 6:24 amI'm not sure if you're in a temperate or cold climate, but be careful with any type of geese on your anti-reverse roller bearings, as it will cause slippage in very cold weather. Re: Gear grease opinions
Well they're definitely not greased from fak-toor-eey... Hence why they flog out so quickly. Good business plan IMHO.
