Stradic FK 1000 vs 2500 body

Post by Jayce » Sun Jun 26, 2016 9:50 am

Since my last post about the 2000 vs 2500 spools should no compatibility
I'm now checking if the 2500 body has a big size difference vs the 1000 (C2000) body.

If possible someone to post a side by side 1000 vs 2500 body comparison with a ruler between them.
Pictures on the net cant give me a measure of size between the two.

Also 2500 spool and 2500s compatible ?

The 1000 uses a smaller body than the 2500.

For the true 2000S models, they use a 1000 body with a shallow 2000 spool. The line capacity is the same as a 1000 size spool. This is why the 2000S spool will not work on the 2500 reel. The tooling is different and the reels were designed with different applications in mind.

In Japan the 2000S was made for trout fishing. Long casting with hard lures using roughly 4 pound line. The 2500 was made for bass/inshore applications (or general purpose). They require more drag because the anglers will more than likely be using heavier line.

Stella for example has a 2 pound difference in max drag between the C2000S and the 2500S. On the Stradic 2500 it has a max drag of 20 pounds, which is 12 pounds more than the Stella 2500S. The reason is the reels were made for different purposes. The Stradic is the general purpose reel I discussed earlier. The Stella 2500S was made for finesse bass applications which typically uses lighter line.

Thanx Bantam

How about the spools ?

Will it be a direct swap with the 2500S and 2500 spools?
or do I need to get the drag knob and drag module from the 2500 ?

On the 2500 schematic I see multiple drag discs but on the 2500S schematic I only see one drag disc.

Im planning to get the 2500S reel then buy a extra spool from the 2500 regular spool.

I'm not sure because we do not offer the standard 2500 size Stella here. For the Stradic I have no idea. I wasn't aware that they had a 2500S in the Stradic FK overseas. I would assume that it will be a direct swap, but I have no way to confirm it since I do not have access to the reels to try.

My contact in Japan confirmed the 2500S and 2500 spools are just a swap. The only difference is the depth of the spool.

There are a few things that are different when servicing the Stradic FK besides the different Torx drivers. The Core Protect feature that covers the roller bearing requires plastic tweezers and an alignment tool. The reason is the coating will come off if you touch it with your fingers. The seal needs to be lined up perfectly otherwise the reel will feel sluggish and you could have water intrusion.

I haven't opened one in a while. The Torx sizes should be T5, T6, T* and T10. It might only be three of them, but the kit I have includes those 4 sizes.
