Tranx reel

Post by musky3 » Thu Apr 12, 2012 4:45 am

Just received my Tranx reel and was adding Trilene 17" mono for backing. After I was done with the backing I noticed
I rubbed off the paint on the front of the reel. Really didn't think this would happen to a 500.00 dollar reel. Will shimano
replace this front cover 4459 thumb rest ?

Ouch..
That's from the line grinding across it I assume..?
If you're spooling the line properly, it shouldn't even touch that area.
Hopefully Bantam will chime in with a solution..

Yes from the line...been filling reels with line for 35 years. I normaly would try and not let the line touch the reel but
due to the size of this reel I may have tilted the reel a little up when filling the reel.

I'm sure we would replace it. The problem is we do not have any parts right now for them, and we are out of stock on the reels. I would fish the reel and then check back to see if we have the parts in stock. If you send it in then you will be without the reel for a while.

I handled one at the Shimano booth at Houston Fishing Show. This is a fine looking reel, kinda like a Curado on steroids. The Shimano salesman there were very friendly guys who have great patience for lots of dumb questions.

I have no real use for one but I gotta to have one just the same.

When do you think schematics will be on the Shimano web site. I'm a junkie for reel schematics.

I was at that show. There was a lot of interest in the reel. I have not seen schematics for the reel yet. The factory is having a hard enough time building them so I doubt we see parts for a while.
