Baitcaster pawl - grease or oil?
Do you use oil or grease on the pawl itself in the housing?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Baitcaster pawl - grease or oil?
If you’re talking about the anti reverse pawl, I remove mine. If you want to keep it then it depends if you use it in saltwater or not. Fresh water only I use a drop of oil, be sure not to contaminate the drag washer, on saltwater reels I use a touch of grease for protection just know grease with hold and accumulate contaminates and needs to be cleaned periodically.

Sorry should have specified worm gear pawl
Re: Baitcaster pawl - grease or oil?
I use a couple drops of oil on the worm gear shaft, it’s easy to clean and reapply. I might not be understanding what you’re referencing as the worm gear pawl. Do you have the schematics or at least identify the reel you’re speaking of.

You can use either. I just use oil on my reels.

ReelX oil, with anti corrosive properties, is excellent for worm gears.

I use my own mixture between superlube and shimano bantam oil.
Work just fine.

One drop of oil should do it. Grease are little too much for the paw.
I use grease for gears only.
