You could try calling Mark's Outdoors in Birmingham AL as they are a certified Shimano repair center.

No problem, hopefully they have the part you're looking for. Or at the very least a new thumb bar. I've had quite a few of my reels serviced there over the years and they've always been nice guys to deal with. I haven't dealt with them in some years now as I've started doing my own maintenance but nevertheless I hope they're able to help you with your problem.

It would seem that this is a common problem with these reels. In fact I would go as far as saying it is a factory fault !!!!!

I own 3 Mets and have had to glue all 3 of the rubber grips back onto the thumb bar. All the Mets I get in for service also show the same issue, and I now routinely apply super glue to resolve the issue.

Easy fix, but not something that should be happening.

I agree is a desing issue. Whenever I find a new piece I will glue it. With out it feels cheap.

Well Shimano told me to either send it for warranty or wait till November. Called around nobody has the part. Not sending it for warranty need my reel for the rest of this year.

Wow I thought for sure that Mark's would have that part. They don't even have the complete thumb bar you could purchase?

I'm really sorry to hear that buddy, I know how it is to get your hopes up and then not have it come through. I tried :(

I only own 1 of the '13 Mets and luckily haven't had this issue yet. Considering the price of the Metanium, and the frequency of this problem occuring, I wonder if Shimano will offer a factory recall/replacement of the thumb bar.

I think Hedgehog could come up with a redesign, as they have with the Aldebaran.

Rubber doesn't like to take glue very well. The factory is aware and they will be looking at a running change. You can send in the reel and I'm sure our techs will find a way to repair the button or find a replacement.

The chronarch ci4 has this same issue with the rubber pad falling off.

Add 3 more reels to the list. Did someone say when a replacement will be available? I don't care for the sharp front edge of the rubber. Just needs to be softened slightly.

I need my reel not going to send it for warranty and loose fishing time over a rubber piece. If the techs have a spare piece why not sell me one.
