Introducing the new Curado K model for 2018

The new 7th generation of Curado is a complete redesign loaded with new features. Built tournament tough, Curado is the benchmark for reliability and durability. Generations of anglers have looked to Curado as their trusted partner.
Shimano gives you more than ever with the new Curado K series reels. Now featuring the latest in Shimano technology, such as super smooth, efficient, durable MicroModule gearing, and offered in multiple gear ratios up to 8.5:1, Curado builds on its legacy as the ‘go to’ baitcasting reel for both fresh and saltwater action

A new matte black appearance with Curado "green" spool and cast control knob for a nod to the old B model.

MicroModule gearing uses smaller gear teeth to make for a smoother retrieve. By allowing more teeth to contact each other, the gear train becomes more efficient.

The latest generation of SVS Infinity allows for a wider adjustment with the brakes. The new design reduces vibration and maintenance. The result is a smoother and longer cast.

Reduced frame size to allow for a more comfortable feel in the hand. The 10% reduction in both length and width make the reel easier to palm and reduces fatigue.

The B side (palm side) plate is now attached to the reel.

If you look at the under corner of the reel, you can see the SVS dial is on the bottom (thankfully).

I love it =D> When will it be available for purchase? So the frame and palm side is one piece? this new curado should be super rigid then.

I thought the meant that the sideplate that normally comes off during brake adjustment is now attached, like the I, not like the 70 though.

This weighs more than an original Tatula, more than the Zillion TWS, same as a Sv103. That tells me one thing, tank. That alone will make me try one for my cranking rod. I do not fish for 10+ hours most of the time, so weight isn't a huge issue, and seeing a weight like this means enhanced durability and rigidity for me. Looks like a really great reel. I have all Daiwa's, plan on trying a Chronarch next, and my final to complete my current rods/reels might be this Curado now. Curious to see how much the spool weighs though, that could be a game changer.

Not one piece, just attached, like the Ole E series was. How it swang on the hinge pin.

The current 200 is attached too.

I think everyone will be happy with these. They have the E type feel in the hand and they perform very well.

Does this model share the Curado I spool? Or has weight been reduced to help casting...

Will this be squareish like the current 200i or will it be a little slimmer? Thinking about saving up for another chronarch MGL but if this feels right in hand, I'll get this and save the extra $100 for a better rod.

any plans for a 5:x ratio reel? I have the 200i PG and really like it for big cranks and big blade baits like spinnerbaits and big inline spinners like the Mepps #5 for pike.

but I would love to try out the new second generation SVS infinity system that everyone says is so much better than the first generation! I believe the upgraded system is on the Curado 70, but it wasn't on the 200i
