With these two reels it seems that the pinion bearing was the main cause of the noise. I replaced the A/R roller clutch first and this did help a little, but when I replaced the pinion bearings the reels really quieted down. Thanks for your input.

P.S. these reels are from a guy in wisconsin and fresh water only. I did see way more rust in these reels than any other reels I've ever done. My buddy must have stored them for a while in a wet rod locker or left them in the rain for a long time. I'll have a talk with him about doing a little more to protect his reels.

That part of the country is the only place I see rust on freshwater reels. It always seems to be from the reels being left outside in the elements and in the rod lockers. The algae plugged water helps trap moisture on the reels as well.
