A little play is normal when pushing the spool reverse. This is due to how the bearing functions. There are rollers and a plastic cage. The rollers push against the cage until it locks up to prevent it from rotating backwards. There are ways to make it "tighter", but it adds resistance to the turning force. If the bearing is not slipping then I would not worry about it.
