Any chance of a Curado 300K?
Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?
The seal doesn't touch the spool at all. It's a close contact but doesn't touch. The coating makes the water bead up and not get into the reel. Adding grease to it could cause some contact because the coating is much thinner than the light coat of grease will ever be.
Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?
They did it! It’s here! Great job Shimano. Wish it came in an 8.1:1 gear ratio, but I’ll take it.
Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?
The gears can be swapped to the 7.6:1 gears from the Tranx 300HG. Given the taller spool the inches per turn is 39. That is pretty fast compared to other reels with high speed gears. I'll be swapping the 6.6:1 gears to some of my Tranx 300 reels for my Calico bass fishing here in So-Cal.
Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?
Bantam1,
I noticed the weight of the Curado 300 K is listed at 10.6oz and 10.8oz. The Tranx 300 is listed at 11.6oz. About a 1oz difference.
What's the difference between a Tranx 300 and Curado 300 (I assume less seals on the Curado 300)? Did the handle sideplate material change from aluminum to graphite or Ci4+?
Thanks.

Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?
What is inches per turn for the stock Curado 300k 6.6:1? 35 inches per turn? That’s only one inch less than the 8.1:1 200k. I’m guessing the taller spool helps. Also curious where the weight savings comes from as mentioned above?Bantam1 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 5:08 amThe gears can be swapped to the 7.6:1 gears from the Tranx 300HG. Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?
Side plate is Ci4+ compared to the aluminium alloy in the Tranx, and there will be metallurgical changes in said handle shaft between the Tranx and Curado as they are in the 200 sizes which all adds up.Tony9 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 12:19 pmBantam1,

Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?
Aluminum vs. CI4+ side plate and aluminum vs. stainless drive shaft. That is the major difference from what I can tell. I haven't opened the Curado yet to double check.
The IPT is due to the spool diameter and gear ratio. The 200K is smaller in diameter when compared to the Curado 300. The Tranx 300 (non HG) is 30 IPT. The Curado 300HGK is 35. The gear ratio difference is 5.8:1 to 6.6:1 with the same spool diameter.

Hi,
Does anyone know that is there assist stopper in 300 K? I couldn't find schematics anywhere.

Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?
With that amount of drag it will have one.
Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?
Thanks, I just wanted to make sure before buying one
Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?
The HG will have 18 and the standard will have 22

The schematic doesn't show an assist stopper, but I have to open one to double check. I'll try to find one and check it today.

The Curado 300K does not have an assist stopper.

Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?
So how does the AR hold upto that drag pressure when the Tranx has same drag specs and a AR assist?
Is it a upgraded AR bearing in the Curado?

Re: Any chance of a Curado 300K?
The bearing is plenty strong enough for that drag rating. The reason the Tranx has the back up is for extra protection since the reel was designed with saltwater applications in mind. There is more potential for corrosion which is usually the main reason for bearing failures.
