Shimano I-DC5 Unit

Post by jrk » Sat Jul 04, 2020 7:08 am

I've got a few of the new 2020 Calcutta Conquest 100 DC's that were purchased from Japan. Love the reels. I'm posting as I'm curious if anyone knows what the little white dot of paint located at the top of the i-dc5 unit might be? This looks to be on most of the different DC reels I've seen.

I've attached a pic in hopes of clarification. I can't imagine this being instrumental to the workings of the reel/unit, but you never know.

More than likely it is a proof stamp for lack of a better term. Inspection and pass type thing for function testing.

Absolutely not! My OCD when cleaning was to much to take...afraid I might wipe that dot off!

The dot coming off will not affect the performance of your reel 8-)

Tamper stamp?

You find them in certain places - manufacturers use them very well to deny warranty etc...

No it's something they use when the DC unit has been tested at the factory.

Ahh because there is a blue stamp inside my SLX XT too - it just washed off as I did the pre-service.

Typically I see white or blue on all of the DC units from testing. Even the older DC stuff from 2005.
