Salvage Stradic FK Gears

Post by StriperFun » Mon Apr 01, 2024 12:04 pm

I have two sets of drive and pinion gears for a Stradic FK which were damaged basically due to operator error when pieces in the reel weren't aligned right. In one case, I had lost the o ring on the oscillating guide at some point and then when fishing I had the rear protector fall off (had stripped out the screw hole over time I think) and the oscillating guide go into the drink.

Anyways, is there any way to sand or buff these gears to salvage them in any way?

This is more of an experiment type post. I would probably ultimately buy a new gear set but wanted to try this out for fun.

Thanks.

The drive gear is forged and they run very tight tolerances. Any alteration will damage or ruin the gears even further. Essentially I would just consider them not useable and toss them or recycle the materials.
