Mattlures Woodys

Post by Lubina » Thu Aug 02, 2007 7:13 pm

I got a box this afternoon with a couple of these lures.
My first impression was as a very well made bait, with a lot of articular movement ( it bend close to a 90 degrees angle )and a very soft but kind of roughly finished tail ( for Mattlures standards )
It is very nice so that the tail is hold in place by 3 screws which would make a change easier. The lure weight about the same as my Slammer 7" and is just 1.3" longer with an slender profile.
I rigged with on my heavy set, Powell 7.11 H with Megadiff 301 and Evolution 25 lbs. and headed out to the pond.
The lure swims great, it is easier to got subsurface than to keep it on the top. I was only able to swim it on short bursts since the water is full of floating patches of weeds. Soon after my first cast got my first fish, barely a keeper and after a few more a dink ( close to be the lure's size), working the lure a bit faster and with the tip down this girl came up, she gave me the fight of the season, she new all the hide outs.

Great evening.....great lure.

another fish outside of the big bass lakes (NJ) that hit a 9" bait.. Awesome job hector...keep them comming..

You need to get a Wake Bait Jr and take the wake bait bite to a whole new level...
