Salvaged a crappy day

Post by njvbass » Wed Aug 22, 2007 1:45 pm

Was up on my favorite lake by 5:30am today with high hopes of bagging some hogs on a nice overcast day.

I was skunked  I was targeting flats next to channel with wakebaits, mostly the baby wake.

left there around 10am and decided to work from hip for the rest of the day and walk a pond for an hr. It was a crappy day and the fish was far from a monster, but the initial hit was well worth it. First it knocked the bait clear out the water on a walking retrieve, then I stopped it after that hit it came clear out and over the bait with it's mouth open. I saw a flash after that and thought it was going to go 5# atleast. here she is.

I walked the bank this afternoon and you did better than I. I caught 4 or 5 but they were all under 2 lbs. They all hit a fast moving JDM 'trap' and this was with an air temp of 103 F. I had a big(?) Bass on for a few seconds and she came off after roiling the water on top...

I've been missing quite a few bites lately and it has me worried. I dropped my Seaguar for some other fluros and... :?

Better than I did, too. 1 LMB about 14" and a scrappy yellow perch. Got attacked by some kind of catbird or mockingbird or grackle.

Sounds like tough conditions right down the east coast.

It was 64* degrees today in New jersey, about 30* below avg.

Nice NJV.. only 3 fish were caught by the local gang at the Res.. it has to be the last two days of unusaully cold rainy weather that has moved the fish deep or turned them off (my guess)

That was on the Baby Wake?

PS where can I get that Camo head band/tennis Visor?

No, that"s a shellcracker fish.

Also you can purchase tennis camo visors at any Dicks sporting goods.
