So I was wondering about the hook/weight sizes on big paddle tails. Not sure what depth they will run with different hooks. For example I see some recommend the 12/0 Beat hook for 7.8" Keitech SIFs, but it is only available in 3/4oz. Is that going to run extremely deep if I use it or will I have to reel overly quick? I also wondered if a heavier weight was required to keep that big ole chunk of plastic down. I bout some of those Santone heads with the monster 8/0 EWG hook, and they work well for the 5.8" and possibly the 6.8" (not got those in yet). Issue is the 1/4oz heads really don't keep a 5.8" running very deep.
Just looking for anyone's insight, if I use a big hook with a heavy weight, is it going to force me to fish my big paddle tail deeper than I want?
