"Failed to move uploaded file."

Anybody else not able to do attachments? After the file uploads, I see a yellow warning icon that says "Failed to move uploaded file." So no images are actually available to add to a post.

Try taking a screenshot of the picture you've got on screen and then crop it to size nice and square.

Works for me.

Weird, I tried it multiple times both from my iPhone and from my PC, and couldn't get it to work. Tried again and things appear to be fixed.

File is too large most likely. Resize it smaller. I have a free app I use when phone posting. Photoresizer I believe.

I think the confusing part here is that the forum will flat-out refuse to accept images past a certain size, which is easy to understand. But then there's a threshold size (for me, at least), where it'll complete the upload, but still throw the error I posted. That one is much harder to understand from a user experience standpoint. (Making the image even smaller fixes it, but it's impossible to know how much smaller unless you use trial & error.)

I run across the same issue, trust me. I had to fight hook and split ring with JIP to get the allocation to where it is now. It's difficult to make it much larger given our operating budget and the cost of server space in perpetuity.

I totally understand the reason for restricting image file sizes and don't mind it. TT and the forums are a free service, after all, and I appreciate it. Just trying to debug the confusing messages when an image is "not moved". It doesn't tell the user why the image wasn't moved, and it's easy to think that file size was not the issue (because there's already a flat-out refusal + error message to accept images that are over a certain size). Something as simple (but possibly not simple if the forum is 3rd party software) as changing the message to "Failed to move uploaded file. Is it too big?" would help a lot to understand when/why the error happens.

(Not a big deal, not meant to a complaint, either.) I design ad develop software on my day job, so digging into UX problems is kinda burned into my brain ;) )
