One rod & reel

Post by lpquick » Sat Jan 19, 2013 1:47 pm

If you could only take one combo per weight class like UL, L, M, MH, H & XH, which means you could name different combos for fishing different species of fish or weight class. Which combo would you take, why and what would you use it for. Like the old days you bought gear for the size or weight of the fish you were going after, not the technique used to catch em.

UL = Ultra Light
L = Light
M = Medium
MH = Medium Heavy
H = Heavy
XH = Extra Heavy

M for me would be my Gloomis NRX 853C & CQ 51, it’s my go to combo at up until now considering my recent purchases, for inshore fishing for Speckled trout.
MH would my Gloomis NRX 873C & CQ101DC, my favorite combo when fishing for Reds.

Well if you want one combo, I would say its my daily user. Shimano Curado50E spooled with 12# YoZuri and mounted on a Shimano Compre 6'8 MHF rod. This is a great all around setup, there is nothing I cant fish with it.

Daiwa Steez 100SHA with Megabass Black Elseil. This setup can fish nearly anything. Outside of UL, L, and H applications wouldn't need anything else.

Daiwa TDZ Custom painted, upgraded bearings on a Dobyns Champion 704CB Glass with 10lb. Yozuri Hybrid.

Seems to do ALL things well.
