Tackle Storage Revisited

Would like to hear what everyone is using for tackle storage these days--you know, we used to call it the "tacklebox"--now it is storage systems. I find that once you get a setup you tend to stick with it, it would be nice to see what works for others or find out about new products on the market.

I have 2 Okeechobee Fats big bags for boat trips, I have a GLoomis backpack (older style) for pond runs, and a wal mart special KVD Plano bag that rides around in the truck for those "i wonder if there is fish in there" moments.

I'm using a red Cabelas bag, not sure exactly what its called or if they even carry it anymore. I've had it for a few years now, they carried a larger red bag like the one I have and I believe a smaller blue one. Anyway, all the lures are in Falcon FTO boxes, a few smaller Cabelas branded Plano boxes and other small plano boxes.

I also have a Tackle Warehouse gen 2 backpack and sometimes use a normal school backpack.

I have a spider soft bag that holds 4 3700 boxes and a separate small tool bag for plastics. The bag is ok but i will be looking for something else here soon. I use a military day pack for pond fishing and it works just fine, no complaints at all.

If you ever upgrade or change your storage, and you want to part with them keep me in mind, that's what I use and they are my favs. I regret not buying more when they were still making them.

make that 3. I wish I would have bought 2 or 3 of all the larger ones. All of mine do sit in a FTO12 bag. For a co-angler/non-boater couldn't ask for a better setup.

I have one of the Plano FTO boxes I use for poppers, I think its the small crankbait box and I hate how all the rows are one piece and cannot be individually removed like the Falcons. The snaps are better on the Plano ones but I much prefer the Falcon boxes.

I do a lot of kayak fishing and boat guest fishing. I recently picked up a Wildriver Nomad Backpack and have been amazingly happy with it the build quality is superb. Easily toss in a days worth of gear in 5 or 6 3700s and lugging it around isn't a chore.

Not sure if you were referring ot the boxes or the bags to store these boxes...I use a combo of Plano 3700 and 3730 plus some of the Falcon-style and Plano waterproof boxes.

For a storage bag, the Cableas line is hard to beat, as they make a multitude of sizes depending on how much stuff you want to carry....all the way up to the Super Magnum, which holds 12-370 boxes plus side compartments. Warning: The Cabelas bags with boxes included looks like a good deal because of how expensive individual boxes have gotten, but the boxes included with these bags are now a very thin, overly flexible boxes, that are not up to par boxes that are sold individually by Plano and others.

Plano 3700 like boxes but the deep items. I than stack them vertically into a 27 gallon tote from Home Depot/Lowes and enough room to put three more on top of the vertically stacked boxes. I think I get a total of 10 deep boxes like that. Just stack the totes as tackle grows. I also use the deep boxes with no dividers for my plastics. Very convenient.

I use this mostly for bass. I have a couple smaller bags for panfish and walleye as well.
