Spring Favorites
Hey guys,
What are some of your favorite spring lures? I used to always use a top water but after joining here I'm really wanting to learn more and hone my skills. What are your guys favorites?

Re: Spring Favorites
Lipless and squarebill cranks
Re: Spring Favorites
If there's wind & chop, lipless & spinnerbait. If it's calm, I'll go to a jig or drop shot a Roboworm or 3" soft stick bait. Jerkbaits(hard & soft) are popular from what I've read, but I have little experience or success with them.

Re: Spring Favorites
lipless, square bill, texas rigs, dropshot (pre-spawn)
Re: Spring Favorites
where are you? What kind of water clarity/vegetation/structure? Spring in Florida versus spring in Maine- you're throwing two different things.
Re: Spring Favorites
I see quite a few of you guys said square bills. What are a couple good square bills?
Re: Spring Favorites
I live in Northwest Indiana. Most of the water I fish is pretty muddy. The lakes I fish have a lot of pads, docks, downed trees etc.Heronimo wrote:where are you? What kind of water clarity/vegetation/structure? Spring in Florida versus spring in Maine- you're throwing two different things.

Re: Spring Favorites
I live in northwest Florida. I love using a Lucky Craft BDS3 in the spring for the big fish. A few other good ones are BDS1,Jackall Aska 60, and one of my favorites, though not a true square bill is the Lucky Craft SKT Mr and mini mr if the water is still a little cold.
Re: Spring Favorites
I think I'm going to find one crankbait and buy a couple different shad and craw colors and a bluegill color. Any other colors I should try?

Re: Spring Favorites
Lucky Crafts sexy shad color is my confidence color for sure, catch fish anywhere on that. They also have good bluegill and craw colors as well. I would buy sexy shad and the skeets baby bluegill colors in the SKT Mr if choosing just one crank.
Re: Spring Favorites
I really can't afford to shell out the money on a Lucky Craft crank right now on $10 an hour. I'm thinking I'm just going to pick up a couple Strike Kings and work my way up.
Re: Spring Favorites
Strike King kvd 1.5 and 2.5 are very good lures. They will catch fish. Use chartreuse with black back and craw color for muddy and stained water. Square bills will be good for the fishing environment you described.
Re: Spring Favorites
Rat'l trap, jerkbait, squarebill, swimjig, & shake head.
Re: Spring Favorites
Jerkbait, jerkbait, or a jerkbait, suspending of course.

Re: Spring Favorites
Lipless cranks for a search bait, vision 110's for slower jerkbait fishing.
