Fish attractant?

Post by hungry_cow » Fri Dec 05, 2014 2:44 am

I used to use fish attractant years ago but haven't ended up using it at all for years. It was kind of a pain how it got lures all oily and you had to take time out of fishing to put it on and I seem to catch fish just fine without it.

But is it something worth re-considering? And if so which ones are any good?

I use fish attractant but not all the time, depends on what I am throwing. Lately ive been using the PowerTeam Lures hog tonic.. This stuff is the real deal!

I always squeeze some smelly jelly or megastrike inside my tubes out of habit. Other than that, I don't use it.

I will sometimes use Yum F2 Spray Attractant(Crawfish) on bottom baits and other soft plastics. It depends on the conditions and if I remember to use it.

Its all about confidence.
If you believe attractants give you the edge,go for it.
Weened myself off of attractants a number of years back.Personally I catch just as many fish,so no problem.
Similarly I have confidence fishing braid without a leader.
Whatever works for you.

The only time I use it is when fishing plastics in heavy grass. It lets the bait slide through the grass easier in my opinion.

I use pro cure products on soft plastics and metal jigs. Not really using anything on hard baits other than big swimbaits.

This is good stuff. I fished with Ron quite a bit when he was creating it over 20 years ago. It is also very good in salt water.

In clear water I like to dip the tip of my plastics in chartreuse JJ's or Spike It. More for the colour than the smell.
