best combo

Post by tioke » Fri Mar 27, 2015 2:46 am

hey
I know everybody has a lot of rods and reels.
but when I go fishing most of the time I take my favorite combo.(and lure)
these days it is the legend xtrme and metanium hg.
use it for bottomcontact, casting lipless cranks and dropshot
even I have better combo's for that fishing the same rods stays in the rack.
the same with lures, have a store of them but use (start) with the my favorite one (duo realis).
but they all look so beautiful so I tell myself "this is the one I need for,..."'the misses don't know and don't have to :D
the stories I told her about different styles and needs, some times I believe myself!
but if i had only one combo ,i still catch fish !!

For me, all my combos are the "best" to me, although my Zonda/Megabass setup has a spot in my heart for some reason.. Bait wise, that is a different story. I will usually start by throwing what i have confidence in at that time no matter what setup i have. BUT, there have been times where i know that X bait will do me great that day so I will line up X bait on that setup just because i like it the best

I have an extremely limited selection of rod/reels but my favorite I just bought last year. A 13 Fishing Omen Black 7'3" paired with a Daiwa T3 1016HL. Favorite bait is probably a 3/8oz spinnerbait either War Eagle or Revenge. I don't have a favorite color but normal white and chartreuse is a good starting point.

Going up to the ante on this one. Mine is the same 842c Glx rod. Reel is the Metanium MG7 with the D7 gear, yumeya bfs spool , and top it off with 92mm carbon handle & shimano power knobs. Best light t-rig combo I ever fished.

Cumulus 6'10" with Chronarch 51e (soon to be Aldeberan 51mg7).
As long as there is open water this combo seems like it can do it all. Most of the time it's got a Classic Rogue tied on to begin with.
Feels too beefy for light stuff and too light for heavier gear but magically it pulls it off....

Easy for me. My custom Croix SCV 6'10" MLXF drop shot rod which I put together a year or so ago. I have a Shimano CI14+ on it and I am usually starting with a green something Robo 6" straight tail. I fish everything from 5 pound to 20 and about 50/50 cast and spin but the drop shot gets the most playing time for me!

I gotta say, all my combos are my favorites. If I had to pick just one, I'll pick my NRX 842S/Stella 3000FI

I too have a fall back combo that seems to get grabbed and fished more than others. But not for the reasons one may think. The waters I fish can be pretty snaggy and weedy, hooking a big bass puts a strain on the rod trying to pull a fish through bull-rushes to the shoreline. I tend to grab a combo that is less exotic and would not cause a heartbreak should the rod snap.

If I know the waters I'll be fishing on a particular outing are fairly clear, then I certainly try to rotate though my collection of more exotic combos. With that being said, I believe the rod and reel I'm fishing at that time, is the best combo I own (as each one is truly special in their own way). ;)

My go to rod and reel is my Shimano Crucial 6'8 MF and Core 51mg7. It's pretty versatile for lakes and light saltwater
