How did my last cast go, you ask...?
This is why I would rather fish from a boat, fewer cedars in the way... Believe it or not, I did get it out. It wasn't a quick bit of work though, that's for dang sure. It's not even like it was really expensive line, it became a pride thing at some point. My wife was even offering to buy me a filler spool of whichever line I wanted to replace it, just so I'd stop picking at it... I asked her if I'd get a new spool of line as a reward for saving it. She just gave me that look as if to say, "I think you know the answer to that..."

That's a good one. I wade and fish from the banks and have had this ruinan entire day. Now I take an extra spool with me.

Ha. I did the exact same thing a month ago with a right tdz. Snagged a pine tree overhanging branch. Three pine cones fell on my head... I too picked it out in the living room into a paper sack. I've found removing the spool (when possible) makes it quite a bit easier. Wrapping the line back on the spool by hand is a pain though.

You could always thread the line back through the line guide then reel it back on normally though. There should be enough room to get the spool and one thickness of line through the frame, no...?

I started to do that, but pulling fifty yards of line piled into a paper sack through a reel without taking it up again is just as painful as hand winding it on the bare spool.adam lancia wrote:You could always thread the line back through the line guide then reel it back on normally though. That's what a cordless drill and an empty spool of filler line are for DaveIlliniDawg01 wrote:I started to do that, but pulling fifty yards of line piled into a paper sack through a reel without taking it up again is just as painful as hand winding it on the bare spool.adam lancia wrote:You could always thread the line back through the line guide then reel it back on normally though. It must have taken ninja-like patience to pick that out. We should start a thread to rate and vote on our worst backlashes. We can call it "Pickable or Not". Maybe we can get a TT sponsor to give out awards at the end of the year.

I love the worst backlash thread idea! I think if you make that spinning reel prize too nice, you'll have guys purposely backing off the brakes and CCC just to win We could actually just have this thread be that thread, because a bad enough backlash would be your last cast with that spool for the day, otherwise it couldn't be that bad...
It did require a fair amount of patience but I'm the guy most of my friends come to for fiddly work like that.

Wow...that's a bad one! I can't believe you got that out.
My worst was when I was was casting wacky rigged Senko and it fell off when I started the cast. I don't recommend trying to cast a bare hook on casting gear...you'll want to throw up. I kinda stood there and stared at the mess thinking...why!

Funny your posting of a Zillion back lashing. I love my Zillions but I tend to backlash them more than any other reel I've ever used. What's up with that!?!
