Hook and weight box

Post by Lucky1 » Wed Apr 20, 2016 1:37 am

I am currently using an old Falcon hook and sinker box. The box has been falling apart for sometime and I really need to replace it. Im wondering what everyone else is using so I can get an idea what works. I like the sectioned off compartments instead of the moveable dividers. I find that hooks and what not slip under the moveable dividers and end up straightening everything out once or twice a week. Something waterproof would be nice too. Thanks

I've always used Plano stuff, they have a decent amount of fixed compartment boxes in addition to the more common customizable compartment boxes.

With the customizable boxes, my solution to stopping hooks from sliding under the dividers is to just put the lighter wire hooks (and swivels, split rings, etc) in tiny pouches (they often come in little pouches to begin with) and put the whole pouch in the box.

I switched from Plano to Versus Meiho a few years ago and never looked back.

I use a Plano 3601, the shallow version. I've never had hooks migrate in that one, but they did all the time in regular sized boxes.

I have the Bass Mafia deep box. The partitions are adjustable but I keep my hooks in their packaging. With the deep box I can stand them on end instead of laying them down. I adjusted the partitions until I had them the way I wanted. Then I drew a diagram on the inside of the top that matches the box. Now I can glance at the top and pick out the size and types that I want.

I have a falcon hook and sinker box that works great. From what I can tell the Bass Mafia box looks like it would be my choice for a replacement though.

I just ordered 2 of the Meiho Versus VS-388SD from Japan Angler. They were highly recommended and I can't wait to get them.

What Bass Mafia box are you guys talking about? The clear one or the black/red one?

Thanks.

The black/red coffin. Super solid, dividers stay put, the lid sits secure on top of all the dividers so hooks dont shift between compartments, and it has a waterproof seal. I also put all my hooks on safety pins to keep them organized.

I looked into these a little while ago, they look awesome. Though I think the shipping would have cost more than the actual boxes.
