Importance Of A Hat For Your Outdoors Activities
Protects your eyes and face from excess sunlight
Prevents sunburns on your neck
Gives you the opportunity to fish in style
Protects you from insects
I was wondering how many of you would wear this kind of hat when go fishing?

I had a couple and didnt find it very comfortable when you tucked the back inside the hat when you didnt need it. Also it wasnt very wind friendly. Ended buying a Columbia omni wicking 50 spf long sleeve hoody and wear an old comfortable baseball hat. Also have a buff around my neck that I can pull up when facing into the sun. All this new stuff they have out although expensive is great keeping you cool ,comfortable and protects you from the sun.

Not very good in the wind.

If the hat includes a cape, I don't also want a wide 360 degree brim that traps rising body heat.

One or the other, not both.

I wore an old Glacier Glove hat like that many years ago before the masks were popular. The underchin strap helps with the wind issue. Unfortunately, the cape part of the hat always moved around in the wind and didn't always provide full coverage. Yes, you do look like a dork also  . I currently wear the Simms Solar Sombrero with a Daiwa Vector mask. I pull down the mask for pictures.

The Solar Sombrero is superlight and it dries very quickly. It has a strap for windy conditions. I prefer this over the a baseball cap because years of sun exposure have given me bad spots around the outside edges of my eyes. The full brim helps prevent this. Another tip is to wear matte finish glasses because the glossy glasses reflect the sun and give you spots around the temples. I had to have the dermatologist remove a few spots caused by glossy sunglasses.
