Finesse Swimbait Head

Post by Bbrotz » Tue Sep 21, 2021 6:33 pm

I’m looking for a finesse jig head with a 1/0 hook to pair either with a 2.8 keitech fat swing impact or 2.8 jackall rhythm wave. I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to either the keitech tungsten round jig head or the dirty jigs guppy head. Have any of you guys used either of these? Which one has the better keeper and the better hook? I’m leaning more towards the keitech because it’s cheaper and it’s tungsten. I can’t see myself paying that much for the guppy head with a lead head.

Save yourself some cash and get gamakatsu roundhead. Perfect size for small keitechs.

All kinds of finesse swimbait heads at Tackle warehouse. Just have to weed through them.

Picasso Gama 2X has been best for me. I think the #1 and 2/0 both work for the 2.8s, 3.3s also.

I use these heads a lot myself. 2/0 is great for 3 inch baits.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll pick some of those up and try them out. I’ll probably try the Gamakatsu round heads as a cheaper alternative too

Also check out the Coolbaits swimbait head for finesse, as well as the Outcast tackle Goldeneye, Megabass Okashira, and various Z Man jig heads.

The only 2 jigheads I can find stateside that come in 1/4oz and a #1 -1/0 size (quality) hook are the keitech super rounds and the Santone Zaldain lil swimmer heads. The gammy rounds are great but 2/0 is the smallest size it comes in for the 1/4oz and that's way too big for 2.8s and 3" spark shads imo - really kills the action.

The Dirty Jigs jig heads are very popular around here. I really like Picasso products as well.

The Keitech tungsten ball head jigs are high quality. I use those and Owner jigs. I don’t like the Gammy jigs. Their keeper tears up the plastic. I prefer to use superglue than some big keeper.

To me there’s two ways you can go the screw lock or normal keeper and glue. With the screw lock if your bait tears up it can be slow getting a new one on so I’m a keeper/glue guy. The biggest problem I’ve seen is finding good hooks most aren’t the right size, cheap or not light wire. My favorite for the $ on smaller ones is Cumberland pro lures jig head it has a small light hook. I picked them up at a local tackle show for $1 each otherwise they are $1.50. But I ended up making own this year it’s cheaper even with a high end hook. I’m not big on pouring everything but jig heads are so easy to make and you lose so many finesse ones or bend the hooks it was worth the investment.
