Gloomis BSR801 questions

Post by DWG1984 » Mon Feb 28, 2011 9:44 am

Hey guys,
I'm Looking for some thoughts on using this rod as a bit of a crossover light bass/crappie rod. Specifically wondering what you guys are using them for and if you think the action will be to heavy for the crappie stuff or to light for 1/16 wacky and teaxas worms. I know thats it rated for that weight range but I would rather hear your opinions on how it handles them rather than take the ratings at face value. Any other rod suggestions you feel would be better suited for what I looking for would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dominick

While I do not have any experience with that particular Loomis rod, I do have experience with the Dobyns DX701C and it is a fantastic rod for throwing light baits and crossing over between crappie and bass. The spinning version (DX701SF) should be exactly what you are looking for in a light action crossover rod.

The BSR will work. Sometimes we tend to go alittle on the heavier side. You have to ask yourself, do I want to enjoy the fish or do I just want to winch the fish in.
