It is rated as a medium light but I really think that it is a medium. The rod has a nice action not too stiff and not too whippy. It is becoming my favorite stick really fast.

I was going to ask the same question.
The rod I was considering is the 705CB. Do you think this is over powered for these techniques? If so, would you recommend the 704CB? Big poppers, spooks, sammys, jerks, lipless cranks...
I really want the medium heavy, so I am very interested in hearing peoples thoughts.

if u already have the 705glass and know how great it is then get the 704glass for the smaller presentations
Re: Which Dobyns for Jerks/top water/shallow cranks?
I like the 705 cb glass for bigger baits and the 704 cb glass for smaller stuff
Re: Which Dobyns for Jerks/top water/shallow cranks?
i personally like to use glass rods for anything treble related...one time when i was watching city limits with mike iaconelli, he talked about how the extra sensitivity in cranking sticks actually hurt him cause he would set the hook on the initial tick and not give the fish enough time to inhale the bait...glass rods, though less sensitive, will actually give him that split second delay to set the hook at the right time...since that realization he has used glass rods on all treble related presentations
in the end, to each their own and it really depends on what works for u...i tend to have a quick trigger and the delay i get in glass rods helped me immensely

That depends on what type of glass rod you are fishing with. If you fish with an e glass rod they are heavy and bulky, but if you fish with and s glass rod they are not bulky or heavy.rabbitass wrote:To me the Glass feels to bulky and heavy.....

Do yourself a favor and try the 704CB Glass. You'll never think the same way again. It's light and has a nice smooth action to compliment casting light baits and fighting fish on small hooks.rabbitass wrote:To me the Glass feels to bulky and heavy.....
