Which is your favorite rod company?
Re: Which is your favorite rod company?
Its been several years, but after some very poor customer service experiences with other big
name rod makers, Gary Dobyns has the majority of my business. I will not go as far as to say
Dobyns rods are the end all... I'm sure most manufacturers produce a quality high end product,
but the trump card for me is how Gary backs his products.

Only really used Shimano and St-Croix. Plan on Megabass and G-loomis in the future. Will probably sway me off Shimano.

For me the jump from Shimano to G Loomis was substantial, but the next jump from that to Megabass was final - its called the Dark Side for a reasonMothercanucker wrote:Only really used Shimano and St-Croix. Plan on Megabass and G-loomis in the future. Will probably sway me off Shimano.

I have St. Croix, Daiwa, Phenix and Dobyns rods. I enjoy the dobyns most. Been staying away from shimano's because of the limited warranty vs lifetime warranty in the dobyns

oh no doubt. there customer service over the phone was great. But being there in person at their center in Yuba was even more telling with their service. Sold me on their rods and servicechreim20 wrote:AllFishedUp wrote:I have St. Croix, Daiwa, Phenix and Dobyns rods. I enjoy the dobyns most. I chose iRod because they make the USDM version of a rod called the N.S Dark Horse Bass Rods (iRod Crusher) rods, I also like the N.S Hurricane Bass Micro BC-662M.

The majority of my set-ups are 13 Fishing Rods. I just feel like for the price, they can't be beat and I'm big on value.
Re: Which is your favorite rod company?
G Loomis, I am boring. I've owned many rods from many companies over the years. I've only owned 4 Loomis rods ever (3 different models) and I've only used 5 different rods that were truly special and unique pleasures to fish with. The 3 Loomis rods account for 3 of those 5 rods. Of the other 2 rods, one is a 7'6" ML casting Cumara reaction rod and the other is a 5' Fenwick UL Goldenwing with a Tennessee handle.

Still loomis since 2008
Re: Which is your favorite rod company?
I would choose St.Croix, the rods preform well and are bulletproof from the bottom of the line up to the top. They suit my budget and I would imagine most other serious anglers. If it was only one company; I would buy a few workhorse rods a high end contact rod and a high end finess rod. Within budget and I still get a couple fancy sticks! Thanks St .Croix lol.
