For baits like the A.C. plug and a 6 inch BBZ I like a Powell 765 Max or the 765SBR. For the larger baits the 711SBRH or the 7105MH would work great.

How big of a wake bait?

I've been throwing the Evergreen TR/FR for all of my wakebaits. It is the BEST rod i've found for this technique. I wish it were 3"-4" longer... The Evergreen

Anyhow it's great! I've boated many 5-9 pound fish on it. It's the deal.

It's got a what i consider a 'true' mod-fast taper and a ton of backbone. It casts my wake jr easily. Main problems are it's cost, and availability.

Specs:

7'4", X-Heavy, 16-30# Nylon (40-80 Braid), 1/2-4ounces. For me it's the power plus taper that makes it ideal.

I am using a ColmicG70 7'-00" graphite rod for cranks and don't see why it wouldn't work for wake baits, just alittle to cold here in WV for wakebaits. or you can use the Black Weapon BW-B610 medium action. It is a 6'-10" fiberglass rod and excels with your tipical wake baits. http://www.colmic-usa.com
