Looking to get rid of my glass rod...help w/ all-purpose??
I have last years model of the Powelll 754 CB-Glass: Heavy, Mod-Fast, 10-17lbd test, 1/4-1oz.
I really like throwing baits with this rod, however I'm short on money this year and need to get rid of it in favor on an "all-purpose" crank rod. The 754 is awesome for deep divers, but is too much rod for smaller cranks. Need to start liquidating some of my "one-trick ponies".
Suggestions on a rod that can handle smaller cranks like the little john, but also have the balls to throw a D22? I know it wont be perfect, but like I said, i gotta scale back. Sacrifices must be made, I just don't throw deep cranks enough to justify this rod. I'm thinking a 7' MH glass?

I'd take a good look at the Powell Endurance 726CB. It'd be a nice all-around crankbait rod. As for the Phenix X-10 that Cal mentioned, I don't think it's ideal for what you need. I own it and would never consider a deep crank on it.

The falcon can do it or look into a croix avid (or premier) 7'MHM. I owned both those rods and they each can handle what you want.

The 726 Endurance would be a good choice. Also take a look at the 753 cb glass. Its a very versitile rod that can really throw a wide variety of baits regardless of the weight. Heres a clip of it throwing a smaller bait.

I'm looking to do the same thing, but also have a rod that I can throw rattle baits and spinnerbaits on as well. I've been thinking about picking up a Dobyns 764CB RM because of the positive feedback, but I really want to try fishing with one first...
