Re: Jig rod.
I just got a Champion 735c. It is a lot stiffer than I thought it would be. I will use it for pitching and flipping jigs and heavy soft plastics into cover. It's a very balanced rod, especially for a flippin' stick.
I would recommend a 3-4 power rod, depending on the cover. If it's structure fishing with little cover, a 3 power will work very well. If you're going to be fishing a little bit to a moderate amount of cover, a 4 power will be ideal.

I like the Shimano Crucial in medium heavy fast action. It's stiffness is falls between the Loomis IMX 783-784.
Re: Jig rod.
Shimano Cumara 7'2" Med-Hvy Ex-Fast. That's the rod that I used to use for 3/8 oz. jigs before switching to a Dobyns Extreme DX744.

X2. The Cumara is an awesome rod. Very light and sensitive and powerful. Either the fast or Xfast, in either the 6'8" or 7'2', depending on your style. I use the shorter for close up work and the longer for ledge fishing.

Re: Jig rod.
The Powell 714 Endurance would be a good choice for the jigs your throwing. Also take a look at the 775 Endurance.
Re: Jig rod.
Try a Powell Endurance 725. It comes in at under your price range of 180. If you are fishing light cover/open water. Try the 714.
