G LOOMIS worming rod help

Post by STETSON1B » Mon Apr 25, 2011 2:47 pm

hello i'm looking to get a g Loomis rod. there is a guy here in oregon who goes by the name of cooks who builds custom rods using a real g Loomis blank and he has just about every model that g Loomis has. and i'm wondering what model should i get i want to throw a weightless Sinko and t-rigs i also don't want it to be underpowered because ill throw into the lilly pads (a little). open to split grips and this is for a bait caster. is the imx or glx series best or ? thanks any help is appreciated. OH sorry forgot to add i want a 7 foot rod as well

First, I'd make sure they are really Loomis blanks since Loomis has stopped producing blanks for custom builders. There might be some around, but I think some are becoming scarce.

Unless I remember incorrectly, Loomis never offered any of the BCR blanks to custom builders. So options like the 893 are off the table unless you purchase a factory rod and have it modified to fit your specs.

So your best best might be an 843 or 844 since you mentioned that you'd like a 7' footer.

yeah i think your right i'm stuck between the MBR842C or the MBR843C i see they make them in glx, imx, and gl3 whats the difference...besides power . i mean i almost don't want to go with the mbr842c because it might be a little under power and ive already got a medium power carrot stix gold.....((<--hope it don't snap lol.)) even tho its my crankbait rod. got it for 96 bucks.....oh forgot to mention i'm getting this gloomis for around $150. smokin deal in my opinion.
