I would say the Loomis MBR 843, as it has more applications than the 844, IMO. I know Tackle Tour has written the 783 would be one of their choices as a gold standard but I prefer the extra 6."

I too like the MBR 843, but I only have an IMX. I use the MBR 843 on every fishing trip, and if I am bank fishing, that is the rod I bring. I use it for senko, spinnerbaits, topwater, and just about everything besides heavy swimbaits.

For me it's also the MBR843 GLX or IMX. The MBR844 would be a better jig rod but for all around the 843 can pretty much do it all. From jigs to cranks, I've used it all with the 843.

If I had to grab just one of my rods to use all weekend, it would probably be my Legend Elite 7' MF. I can pretty much do anything with that rod.

Agree. That blank is awsome. Although I`d go for the Xtreme version.

I prefer the added length of my DX 703C over my second favorite all around rod, the 783 GLX.

for many years, my Loomis MBR783 IMX was my go to rod.

then, I got bitten by the ultralight bug, and now I tend to fish ligher lines all the time.

so, I use my Sustain 3000 and Loomis SJR782 GL3 spinning rod with 8 pound mono most of the time. its awesome.

I prefer the GL3 version of this rod over the IMX version that I also own because I prefer the handle style on the GL3. (skeletal cork style) much more comfortable.

Still searching....

I suppose my Kistler LTA HE 6'-9" MH is the closest I've had to this point, but I'm still looking for that elusive beast.

My recent LE 7' MH will be close, but a little bit stout for that crown.

I'm working with a Zillion 7' MXF for my Mr. Versatility, but I'm on the fence with it. Sweet rod, but not quite the royal "it".

I have some other world class rods (GLX's, Steez, etc.) but they all lean one way or another toward specific techniques or lure weights.

I'll just keep searching and reading TT's reviews, member reviews, and trying different things. That's most of the fun anyway!

Hands down, the GLX MBR783. I even purchased this rod in its two-piece form and it sits in may car ready for the call at any moment.

Powell 683C is my favorite, it's the only rod I own that I will never sell.
