09 and 2011 XML differences?

Post by Bassboss » Wed May 18, 2011 1:12 pm

I picked a 09 XML up a while ago when they had 'em for real cheap a few years back. I used the rod for a year but broke the tip off and I'm getting a replaced under warranty and will be getting the new 2011 model. I liked the rod a lot.

I'm wondering if their was any significant upgrades, or changes from the previous model and the new one. If anyone's fished either, and wants to tell what what they think, that'd be great! :)

Look below for the "Cabela Blanks" thread. There should be some info in there.

on the XMLs, the blanks are the same. the "magtouch" reel seat has been resculpted and is now a bit more skeletonized and they switched from fuji alconite guides to alps SS316 guides.

Cabela's is great with returns, although I've never returned anything without a receipt. I'd think they'd help you with your XML rod, considering their 25 year warranty on them, even if you don't have a receipt. But you never know till you try when returning stuff without a receipt, but considering it's their store brand & their rep for great customer service, they should take care of you.
