Swimbait Rod?

Post by teamcarolina » Fri May 20, 2011 4:27 am

Can anyone recommend a good rod for throwing smaller swimbaits (4" to 5", ex. Spro BBZ). I really don't want to go longer than 7' unless it's necessary, just personal preference.

I use and love a TD light and tough frog rod. Been using this rod for a while now and am really happy with it. Its 7'4" but handles really nice. I have a Curado D on mine

well, having a longer rod will really help in distance and hooksets...in my mind, it's a no brainer to get zillion swimbait rod...it'll cover all ur swimbait needs...also, u can go way beyond their recommended lure weight since the rod is exceptionally stout

I use a Veritas. Not too expensive, so if it breaks...no biggie...dont really need anything super expensive for swimbaits IMO...not paying for sensitivity you dont need...trust me, when a fish bites a swimbait you will know...even with a walmart rod.
