Weibe Handles Loomis

Am I correct that Loomis made all the rods in the MBR series in the Weibe handle at one time ? How long ago did they drop this handle ? I much prefer this handle style and am looking for a MBR 844 Weibe handle in GLX.

You can still get the Super Sticker reelseat/grips you just have to roll your own. When Simano bought G Loomis they went all japanese products. Have always liked the comfort of the 15 degree offset. Comfortable in the hand and the design puts your reel a bit lower in relation to your hand, IMO improving palming of the reel.

I have the classic weibe reel seat on my MBR783 IMX, purchased in 1998.

it could be yours for $10,000

seriously though, keep on eye on web classifieds like ebay, craigslist, kijiji etc.

you can probably find a Loomis with these seats for a reasonable price.

Some model years had Weibe and Fuji seats concurrently. Example: The 2001 catalog lists the GLX and IMX versions of the MBR783 with Weibe seat while the GL3 and GL2 versions came with Fuji seats.

I have been a huge Loomis fan since I was in HS. I loved the old school handles also. I was very lucky to buy an MBR782 GLX and an MBR843 GLX this spring. Both had weibe handles, and I paid $185 each. BRAND NEW! Wish they still made them. They are sweet!
