For the 5-8" swimbaits I use the Shimano Crucial XH swimbait rod in 7'11". So far has worked for me and have caught some fish up to 6 lbs it did job very well. Has an Amb 6600 C4 which has been tuned with 30# P-line CXX in moss green..

My Daiwa Zillion 8'MH "Swimbait" rod is rated for those same size baits.

Here's some pictures, its a very light rod for it's size and power.

Is there a define range for 5-8"? For example, I have 8" Hudd ROF 16 that weight close to 5 oz and require some back bone due to the high resistance of the bait. At the same time I have 8" paddletails that weight less then 2 oz and could be retrieved on a spinner. Have 5" baits that weight 1/2 oz and others that can weigh close to 2. I wouldn't throw all of them on the same rod. I don't see swimbaiting any different then any other fishing tech where equipment has a range of application but still feel it should be best rated by weight range then inches as inches can be many different weights based on density of lure and profile.

However, there's a new line of rods from Greg Ross with light, medium and heavy applications that seem to offer a very wide range. I have no experience with them and just now doing my research. I'm still confused as to how a rod can handle many baits but open minded enough to do more research.

I use a Lamiglas xc807 and G.loomis swbr956 without any problems. Handles the 5-8" baits and the bass that eat them great. :big grin:
