I just took the plunge. Ordered the 7'11" heavy. I wanted a punching rod and deep timber rod. Will review as soon as possible. Probably put an STX on it.

That rod with an STX on it, you should be able to go logging with it.

That rod should handle the task just fine. I had one for bit, 7 ft model and it was great for the money spent. Only thing i disliked was the reel fastener nut dealio. it can dig into your reel.
