Looking for a med-light for 100.00 to 150.00
What brands carry casting rods in med light fast that have good sensitivity and sufficient backbone in this price range? Any info would be appreciated.

Bass Pro Shops has a Carbonlite in ML - the CL66MLTF - http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-C ... 5012/76662. I've got this rod and the blank is very good. I like the grip and reel seat, but I'm not fond of the oversize guides on the standard version. Haven't fished the microguide version. On sale and being discontinued for $80. For the $$ its a safe bet - and one that will live on with a nice spincasting reel for my granddaughter one day.
The Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth in medium is a light rod, about the same as the ML BP. I have the 6'3" and love it! At $90 or so it's a screaming steal and works perfectly with RC 0.5 cranks, Rapala DT4's and other small 1/4 ounce loads. This is a great rod to match with the old, gold Carbonlite reel (and the new one too, though I prefer the original).
Powel has the Max 682c for $99 thru TW. Its a discontinued model, but had a great reputation. I have the 683 and find it outstanding for contact baits. With the XF action, I think the 682 will also be a good match for soft plastics, but I'm sure it will handle treble hook baits just fine.
I'm sure there are others.

Ooops, just noticed you were looking for a casting rod and not spinning. St Croix also makes the same rod in a casting model but I don't have any experience with it.

Lamiglas Excel 734C. It's a very light "medium", I had a Curado 51 on mine and could bomb 1/8oz cranks with it.

I guess I'll hear it again for this but if you can deal with a rod under 7' then the Fenwick Elite Tech smallmouth 6'10" medium power fast action would be a good option. I know you said med. lt. but this medium is rated for 1/8oz to 5/8oz and feels more like mediun light than a medium. I don't think for the price with a lifetime warranty you can go wrong but I'm sure that you have plenty of good options.

For a rod so light in action why don't you go w/ a spinning rod?? I got my dad the elite tech smallie series 6'10'' and he loves it. I use a bucoo and like that as well

I have the 6'3 MF spinning small mouth fenwick and its awsome. It is rated for medium but IMO is a ML. My casting smallmouth in 6' 9"MHF is aswome to. I dont have a ton of rod experence handling all the options out there, but i work hard for my money, and am very satisfied. I would buy another in a heart beat. I got my original rod on amazon for 87 and now they keep creaping up in price. The second casting rod ran 107. They have TI guides are light and very sensitive. I have never fished a loomis but for the price i never will. If your intrested shamano owns them both.
