Best is a relative term. That being said, take a look at the 13 Fishing Omen Rods (specifically 7'1" of 7'3" Med Hvys). $99-$109 respectively. Tackle Warehouse has them. Wait for a sale and the deal is even sweeter.

I'd add the Powell Diesel 723CEF to your list as well.

I want to stay away from Powell because I snapped my Powell max. I bent it slightly and it snapped while I was trying to rig a bait. I'm positively sure that it was not my fault. I had lifetime warranty and I contacted them and they said that I had to pay 60 bucks and like 20 bucks for shipping. I think it isnt worth it so now I'm trying to get a new rod.

I would say they are all about the same in that price range. But from all the initial reviews the 13 omen is the rod you want. Again 7'1" -7'3" mh

Is the medium heavy to thick? I'm mainly going to use it for light Texas rigs and flukes. Should I get the medium or should I stick to the medium heavy.

Right now TW has the Quantum Tour Edition PT rods for 65 bucks. A lot on here don't care for their stuff but I have a 6'10" Heavy power fasct action Tour PT rod and I use it for heavy line techniques like jigs in moderate to heavy cover and big texas rigs that I'm pegging a at least a 3/8oz weight, I like it because it is a heavy power but it still has some tip to it, not a complete broomstick. The other rod in that series is the 7' medium that is rated 1/4 to 3/4 lure weights, a really good senko rod and you are getting a decent rod cheap. I get a little mad when I see stuff like that since I paid more than double for my Tour Edition rod.

i have an mh abu veritas that i mainly use for topwater, but i've fished a texas rig on it several times. it is pretty sensitive. they have a reputation for not being the stoutest rods on the market and as such i get sketched out when i throw it into heavy cover, but it has held-up thus far. i like the veritas, but i wish i would have known about the omen.

I would stick with a 6' 6" to 7' medium heavy rod with a fast or extra fast action. I have found medium action rods to bee too soft to get the hook through a fluke or texas rigged soft plastic on long casts or in lots of grass.

If you have an academy near by they have some blue H2O Xpress rods are good for the price as well as all of the All Stars. You can buy any of the All Stars except the micro guide series with a $100 bill. I have fished All Stars my entire life, and they have always delivered a good rod for the price. In short you can't go wrong with an All Star.

Bass Pro Shops has a rod series called the Carbonlite. I have found them to be excellent rods. They have a 6'9" mh and a 7' mh for $99.99.

W&M Skeet Reese rod. The spinnerbait /worm rod is perfect for its intended application. The action and power are spot on. 7 ft. w/ 12 zirc oxide guide inserts plus tiptop for $89.99 The zirc oxide is perfect for braided line. You can barely get those guides alone for that price.
